Mount Longma Scenic Area (AAA)

Mount Longma Scenic Area is located at Xiaoshiqiao Yi Nationality Township, Hongta District, Yuxi, Yunnan Province. Its core zone covers an area of 1,999.4 mu. As a result of orogeny in Sinian period around 700 million years ago, Mount Longma was raised tall in the basin in the median areas of Yunnan. There's a relative height difference of 808.5m between its main peak, which is at an altitude of 2,438.5m, and the Yuxi Dam that lies at an altitude of 1,630m. It can be called a "natural geology book from heaven" recording a history of 7 million years, and has become the magnificent skyline in Hongta District. Mount Longma, as a gigantic screen, stands still in the northeast of the Yuxi Dam. It keeps away the wind and cloud, which thus circulate and turn into the ever-changing mist and lush mountain scenery. The scenic area now provides tourist infrastructure such as Sky City Observation Tower, Stone City, Heaven Ladder with 999 Stairs, and Torch Square. Climbing up the 999 stairs symbolizes the spirit of working hard with the vigor of a dragon and horse. Reach the peak to Sky City, and one can look far into Dian Lake, Yangzonghai Lake, Fuxian Lake, and get a bird's-eye view of the entire city, the crisscross footpaths between fields, the roads and water channels, the intertwining patterns, and the fertile land.
